What The Informer Is About

A man informs on his closest friend, who is a member of the outlawed Irish Republican Army. After the betrayal the other members of the organisation come after him and he is caught in the streets of Dublin. The film sets loyalty and fear beside each other and shows that an act of informing finishes not only the one informed on but the one who did it. It was adapted from the novel by Liam O’Flaherty. Because the production fell in the years of the move to sound, it came out both in a part talking version and in a fully silent one. Lya De Putti and Lars Hanson appear in Arthur Robison’s eighty three minute British film, completed in 1929.
