Inés Prieto What The Invisible Children Is About
In a small town a boy and his friends believe they have found the way to become invisible. Their aim is to get closer to the girls they like. For that they have to steal the magic recipe and the ingredients without being caught, and then perform the ritual. The film joins the magic of childhood to the daily life of provincial Colombia and takes the strange logic of growing up seriously. The account shows the adults not as people laughing at the children but as people who cannot see their world. The wish to be invisible is no escape; it is a wish children who want to be seen have built the other way round. Lisandro Duque Naranjo’s ninety minute Colombian film was completed in 2001.
