The Last Call

A Mexican theatre company is preparing a new production. The text they are staging is Caligula by Albert Camus. The performance is meant for an important international festival. Trouble sets in the moment rehearsals begin. The director is a determined and stubborn woman. Each of the actors brings their own troubles onto the stage. Egos, jealousies and old scores come into play. The technicians and stagehands are part of the argument too. The tension backstage mixes with the tension in the play. The text of Camus passes through all this quarrelling. Time is running out and the rehearsal will not come together. The film is about what happens behind the curtain. Comedy and drama move along together. The account shows how a production is born. Karina Gidi and Irene Azuela appear in the ninety minute film, a Mexican production Francisco Franco Alba finished in 2013.
