Nimit Luksameepong What The Legend of Muay Thai: 9 Satra Is About
The kingdom of Ramathep is under siege from an army of the Yaksa. Its hope rests on a young Muay Thai fighter. If he can find and wield the sacred weapon known as the ninth Satra, the assault can be stopped. The young fighter goes after the weapon and has to face his own past at the same time. Nat Yoswatananont's film is one of the large-scale works Thailand has made with its own computer animation. The fight scenes rest directly on Muay Thai stances and techniques; the telling presents that not as a sport but as a tradition. The design draws on Thai mythology and temple ornament. There is plenty of colour and movement, and the audience it aims at is young.
