The Light

Camille returns to Ouessant, the island off the Brittany coast where she was born, to sell the family house. On her last night there she finds something, and the past opens up. In 1963 a man came to work with her father at the Jument lighthouse. Antoine was an outsider and the islanders never accepted him. He stayed only two months. But in those two months something happened between him and Camille's mother, and nothing on the island stayed as it was. Philippe Lioret directs, with Sandrine Bonnaire as the mother, Grégori Derangère as Antoine and Philippe Torreton as the father. A hundred and five minutes. The Jument light off Ouessant really is one of the most exposed positions in France, and the film shows it exactly that way.
