The Loved One

Ellie and Eric separated ten years ago. Now they meet again. Eric never got out of that relationship; what he remembers is disordered and incomplete and he keeps rebuilding the same scene. Ellie's life went on. The two of them go back over the past, and every act of remembering says something different. What actually happened and what each of them has chosen to remember are not the same. The film opens that gap and keeps the reason for the parting until the end. Irene Emma Villamor wrote and directed. Anne Curtis plays Ellie and Jericho Rosales plays Eric. Catriona Gray and Jackie Lou Blanco are in the cast. Cornerstone Studios and Viva Films produced. It is a Philippine production. The film opened on 11 February 2026, runs a hundred and two minutes and took two hundred and seventy five million pesos; it was the first local box office hit of 2026. Curtis and Rosales acted together again for the first time in years, and much of the interest in the film came from that. The narrative breaks the order of time and moves constantly between now and then. The matter it treats is the partiality of memory; two people remember the same relationship differently. The film declares nobody the single guilty party. The photography is calm and the locations kept plain. The ending gives no coming together. The narrative is open to melodrama and the music supports the feeling. Its limit is predictability; the setup is familiar, the pace slow, and the surprises few.
