What The Magnificent Cuckold Is About
Andrea is a successful businessman with a beautiful wife and a marriage that looks happy, right up to the moment he has an affair himself. From then on he becomes fixated on his wife's fidelity: Maria is one of the most desired women in town, so cheating would clearly be effortless for her. Every man who looks at her now sends him out of his mind. Meanwhile Maria finds out about the affair and starts making her own arrangements. Antonio Pietrangeli's Italian comedy has Ugo Tognazzi playing jealousy as an illness while Claudia Cardinale watches and waits. It takes male jealousy apart with one of the sharpest comedies of the period.
