What The Man with Nine Lives Is About
Doctor Leon Kravaal develops a possible cure for cancer that works by freezing the patient. When an experiment goes wrong the authorities conclude he has killed a man. Kravaal freezes them, and himself along with them. Years later all of them are found and revived, in the hope that he can now finish the cure. Human greed and cowardice get in the way. It is one of the mad doctor pictures Boris Karloff made for Columbia, seventy four minutes, directed by Nick Grindé. What is interesting about it is that it does not simply make a monster of the doctor: what stops him is not the limit of science but the behaviour of the people around him.
