What The Most Reluctant Convert: The Untold Story of C.S. Lewis Is About
An older C.S. Lewis looks back and tells his own road. From where he began as a hard atheist to where he ended as a Christian writer. The account reaches into his childhood, his years at Oxford and the moment his mind changed. The film gives that turn not as a ceremony of acceptance but as a long process of resistance. The title comes from there, the most reluctant of converts. The work is adapted from a stage play and moves largely through the telling of a single voice. The film’s position on faith is plain, and that position is the work’s own choice. The film presents him as the most renowned Christian writer of the century. Nicholas Ralph and Max McLean appear in Norman Stone’s eighty seven minute film, a joint American and British production, completed in 2021.
