What The Most Wonderful Evening of My Life Is About
Alfredo Rossi, an Italian industrialist, drives into Switzerland to put a large sum quietly into a bank. The bank is shut, the hotels are full, and he is put up for the night in a castle. His hosts are four retired lawyers, and over dinner they play a game: they convene a mock trial, and tonight the defendant is Rossi. The charge is that he is responsible for the death of the man whose place he took in business. As the game goes on, Rossi starts telling his own story and hears what he has been justifying. Ettore Scola directs, adapted from Friedrich Dürrenmatt's book The Breakdown. Alberto Sordi and Michel Simon star.
