What The Mother and the Whore Is About
In the disappointment left behind by May 1968, Alexandre, unemployed and broke, spends his days reading and talking in Paris cafés. He lives with Marie, older than him and the owner of a boutique, and starts something with Veronika, a Polish nurse he meets in a café. Across three and a half hours almost nothing happens except talking, and the talking shows how everything a generation said about love, fidelity and freedom collapses under use.
