What The Movie of My Life Is About
The mountain country of southern Brazil, 1963. Tony, son of a French father and a Brazilian mother, finishes school and returns to his town to learn that his father has gone back to France for good. He goes around his father's friends trying to understand the man, and meanwhile takes work as a village teacher, trying to give the children the thing he is missing himself. Selton Mello directed and acts in it; Vincent Cassel plays the father. Adapted from a novel by the Chilean writer Antônio Skármeta. Abandonment seen quietly, through a young man in love with cinema and poetry.
