What The Nanny Is About
A house in London. Ten-year-old Joey comes home from the psychiatric ward where he has spent two years since his little sister died. The nanny brings him back. Joey will not eat anything she has prepared, will not bathe while she is in the room, and wants a bedroom with a lock. His parents are certain the boy is disturbed; he may in fact have a reason to be frightened. Bette Davis plays the nanny; Seth Holt directed for Hammer. It is not a supernatural horror film but wholly a psychological one. A child's death and a drowning are in it.
