The Nun

The Nun (original title La Religieuse), directed by Guillaume Nicloux and adapted from Denis Diderot's 18th century novel, is a French film starring Pauline Étienne, with Isabelle Huppert in the cast. This should not be confused with Warner Bros.' 2018 horror film The Nun from The Conjuring universe; it is an entirely different production. The film follows Suzanne, a young novice who faces retaliation, humiliation, and abuse from the new mother superior and other nuns after the previous mother superior dies. The film premiered in competition at the 63rd Berlin Film Festival and drew 240,000 viewers in France. Pauline Étienne won Best Actress at the 4th Magritte Awards.
