What The Other Son Is About
An Israeli teenager going through a medical for military service turns out to have the wrong blood type, and it emerges that two babies were switched at birth. So the Israeli family raised a Palestinian child and the Palestinian family an Israeli one. Two families, two young men and the wall between them. Lorraine Levy stages this not as a political argument but as two mothers and two fathers sitting down and not knowing what to do. It asks how much of identity is born and how much is raised. Some find the premise too hopeful, though it is realistic about permits and checkpoints.
