The Pack

Andrés Ramírez Pulido's 2022 Colombian film is set at an experimental centre for minors inside the forest. Eliú is held there for a crime he committed. The days pass in heavy manual labour and group therapy. When the friend he committed the crime with is transferred to the same centre, the order Eliú has built breaks; the narrative does not credit any recovery to the centre's method and shows how violence is passed on. The cast are not professionals. The images are in forest and low light. The tone is close to a thriller, with little music. Who it's for: viewers of Latin American independent cinema and youth drama. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a hopeful close; the film promises none.
