In a darkened room five men gather round a table. None of their names is given. Numbered files are set in front of them and they are asked to assess them. The task is vague and so are the rules. Inside the files are short documentary passages shot in every part of the world. That footage comes from two long journeys the director made in 1959 and 1960. The film shows that material and at the same time questions the work of assessing it. The account stands between documentary and fiction and proposes a way of thinking. The eighty three minutes are given to a single session. Ferdinand Khittl’s German film was completed in 1962.
