What The Passengers of the Night Is About
On election night in 1981 the streets of Paris are full of celebration and an expectation of change. For Elisabeth the night means something else: her marriage is over and she has to support two teenage children on her own. She finds work on a late night radio programme and there meets Talulah, a young woman with nowhere to live, whom she takes into her home. Mikhaël Hers builds the Paris of the eighties without slipping into nostalgia, mixing in footage from the period. Charlotte Gainsbourg plays Elisabeth.
