What The Photograph Is About
A young Greek goes to Paris to ask help from a distant relative who works as a furrier; the man lives alone and keeps away from people. The young man has brought nothing with him from home except a photograph of a woman he found on the pavement. A misunderstanding about the photograph sets off other misunderstandings one after another, and he becomes trapped inside the lies he has made himself. The film gathers migration, loneliness and the wish to belong around that single object. The account blames nobody; it shows why a lie has to be kept up. Christos Tsagas plays the lead in Nikos Papatakis’s hundred and twelve minute Greek film, completed in 1987.
