Yuri Chekulayev What The Princess and the Pea Is About
In one realm it is time for the prince to marry, but the bride must be a real princess. A notice is put up at the gates, and the only one who answers it is a small girl soaked through by the rain who bears no resemblance to nobility. So the prince sets out for other lands in search of a suitable match. In one kingdom he meets a fat king, in another a hospitable one, he visits the kingdom of the arts and he sees a great many princesses, beautiful and clever. Yet the real princess he was looking for turns out to be the girl who knocked at their door on that rainy night. The film tells the tale for a young audience in a warm tone and with songs. Alisa Freyndlikh appears in Boris Rytsarev’s eighty nine minute Soviet film, completed in 1976.
