The Source of Snakes

Dina studies at a teaching institute. For her placement she goes to a small town. The air in the town is heavy. People live in fear. The reason is a series of killings. All those killed are young women. There is no visible link between them. The townspeople take it to be the work of one man. Nobody trusts anybody. Dina, newly arrived, sees it all from outside. She starts asking questions. In time she is in danger herself. The account runs as a thriller and a mystery. The town is small and everyone knows everyone. Ekaterina Guseva and Evgeny Mironov take the leads, with Olga Ostroumova also in the cast, in Nikolay Lebedev’s Russian film of 1997.
