What The Spirit of Christmas Is About
Kate, a lawyer, is sent to have an inn appraised so it can be sold before the end of the year; it is said to be haunted, and it is. For ninety-five years Daniel has come back to life each December for the twelve days of Christmas and then vanished. They strike a deal: if Kate can find out how he died he will move on and the inn can be sold. David Jackson works between ghost story and Christmas romance, tying Daniel's death to Prohibition, rum running and a fiancée. The shape is entirely television and holds no surprises. The period sequences and the inn itself are the best of it. Who it is for: viewers who like Christmas films and light ghost romance. Who it is not for: anyone wanting real suspense or an original plot.
