The Story of Southern Islet

Cheong has a row with his neighbour. He falls ill after it. Nobody can say what is wrong with him. His wife Yan looks for a cure. Doctors get nowhere. Yan sets out. Strange things happen to her along the way. What she sees cannot be explained. In the end she goes to the village shaman. The shaman offers her a different kind of explanation. Old beliefs come out of it, and legends belonging to the region come in with them. The film sits between the ordinary world and what people believe, closer to fantasy and horror than to either. Jojo Goh, Season Chee, Hong Herr Wong and Pearlly Chua appear in the hundred and five minute film, a Malaysian production Keat Aun Chong finished in 2021.
