The String

Malik has spent years in France and comes home to Tunisia when his father dies. The return is not easy: he is grieving and at the same time learning to live in the same house as his mother. There is also something he cannot say, because he cannot come out to her. Anxieties left over from his childhood come back. Then he falls for Bilal, who works in his mother's house, and the thing stops being something that can be kept hidden. Mehdi Ben Attia directs, with Claudia Cardinale as the mother, Antonin Stahly as Malik and Salim Kéchiouche as Bilal. It takes place inside a well-off household in Tunisia, and its real subject is what the mother knows.
