The Timekeepers of Eternity

Aristotelis Maragkos's 2021 film was made from an existing television series. A Stephen King mini-series is compressed, converted to black and white, and its frames torn like paper and reassembled. The method is collage animation. Faces are split down the middle, the same frame is layered over itself, and the texture of the paper stays on top of the image; what emerges is not a new narrative but a shattered state of the same events. The sound is largely kept. The dialogue belongs to the original performers, which shows how far familiar material can be altered. Although it runs to feature length, the film carries a single idea all the way through. Who it's for: those who like found-footage cinema and experimental animation. Who it's not for: viewers expecting narrative; even for those who know the source, the structure is hard to follow.
