What The Towrope Is About
Alicia is driven from her home by the civil war; her town has been burned and her family killed. She comes down out of the Andes and finds a place for herself in the run down inn her uncle keeps. But the violence is drawing closer there too, and the images of the war in her head never stop. The film moves at a heavy pace on a shore as murky as a swamp and uses sound and landscape in place of speech. The director described his film as a tale about a country nobody knows and about people holding on to their traditions in order to keep their relation to the land. William Vega’s eighty eight minute Colombian film was completed in 2012.
