What The Travelling Cat Chronicles Is About
Satoru can no longer keep his cat Nana, so he gets into his car and starts driving across Japan to find him a good home. Along the way he calls on childhood friends, on his first love and on people left behind in his past, and each of those meetings makes parting with Nana harder while slowly making clear why he set out at all. Koichiro Miki’s hundred and eighteen minute film was adapted from Hiro Arikawa’s novel, serialised in a weekly magazine across 2011 and 2012. Sota Fukushi plays Satoru and Mitsuki Takahata voices Nana, with Yuko Takeuchi and Alice Hirose also in the cast. Much of the story is told from the cat’s side of things.
