That refusal kept him out of the ring for years and put him into a long legal battle with the government. Bill Siegel directed, produced by the Chicago company Kartemquin Films. It showed at Tribeca in 2013, then went out on PBS, and won an Emmy the same year. The Turkish summary in the record mentions a five-year prison sentence without saying that it was never served and that the conviction was overturned by the Supreme Court in 1971; the two language versions were also written independently of each other.
