The Turquoise Necklace

The story takes place in the Romanian lands before the revolution of 1848. A representative of the Vienna banks is kidnapped. His daughter is taken along with him. This is not a simple matter of ransom. The affair touches on a diplomatic crisis. There is even talk of Austrian armies entering the country. The Prince of Wallachia promises to resolve it within seven days. The time is short and there is very little to go on. This is where Mărgelatu comes in. A close friend rides with him. The two of them follow the kidnappers’ trail. Traps come up along the way. Mărgelatu breaks the plot and brings the truth out. The film is the fifth entry in the Mărgelatu series. Florin Piersic and Marga Barbu appear in the ninety two minute film, a Romanian production Gheorghe Vitanidis finished in 1986.
