What The Vault of Horror Is About

Five men take a lift down, arrive in a sealed basement room, and find the door will not open again. With nothing else to do they take turns describing the dream each has been having lately. A vampire restaurant, a body taken apart very tidily, a rope trick brought back from India, a burial arranged for insurance money and a painter whose portraits kill their sitters. Amicus adapted these from the EC comics as a sequel to Tales from the Crypt, and it saves its best turn for last.
