Constantine: City of Demons - The Movie

An animated film from a comic book source. John Constantine works with magic. His method is dirty: he bargains, he lies, and someone else usually pays. The narrative opens with something that happened years ago. A rite he performed to save a child went wrong and the little girl, Trish, has been in a coma since. Now her father Chas asks for his help. She is not recovering and medicine can do nothing. The two go to Los Angeles. A prince of hell has business in the city and the girl's condition turns out to be tied to it. Constantine has to make a bargain, and its terms grow heavier at every step. The matter at the centre is the price: the man finds a way out every time and the way out costs someone. It was released first in short episodes and then joined into a feature. This version is harder; the swearing and the violence are not cut. Matt Ryan voices Constantine; he had played the same character in a live-action series before. Doug Murphy directed. A suitable choice for anyone who likes dark comic adaptations and animation for adults. For a viewer new to the character, the film assumes you know what happened before.
