What The Vets Is About
In the Morvan, Nico is the last vet in the district, trying to keep up with the animals, the practice and a family coming apart. When Michel, his partner and the man who trained him, announces he is retiring, it gets harder still. Michel has found a replacement: Alexandra, freshly qualified, very good, bad with people, and with no intention of burying herself in the village she grew up in. What the film is actually about is rural France losing its doctors and vets. Julie Manoukian directed; Clovis Cornillac leads. Predictable, but the farm work and the animals are real.
