The Yellow Tie

Serge Ioan Celebidachi's 2025 film tells the life of the conductor Sergiu Celibidache. It begins with his childhood in Romania; he leaves the country to study music and has to spend the war years in Germany. At the centre is Celibidache's refusal to make recordings. He held that music exists only when heard live; the stance both built and limited his career, and the film shows it not as obstinacy but as consistency.
