Nuremberg

A Nuremberg film that spends more time in a cell than in the courtroom. US Army psychiatrist Douglas Kelley is assigned to assess whether the accused Nazi leaders are fit to stand trial, but his real interest is a different question: whether there is a detectable pathology in these men at all. Russell Crowe plays Hermann Göring and Rami Malek plays Kelley, with Michael Shannon, Richard E. Grant and Leo Woodall in support. Dariusz Wolski shot it and Brian Tyler wrote the score. The screenplay comes from Jack El-Hai's 2013 book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist. Crowe's performance drew the strongest reviews. Rotten Tomatoes has 72 percent of 202 critics positive and Metacritic sits at 61. Matt Zoller Seitz called it a solid film that sets out to educate and inspire as well as entertain. Sony Pictures Classics released it on 7 November 2025, and it took 70.5 million dollars worldwide against a 40 million budget. Who it is for: viewers drawn to where history meets psychology, and to a two-hander of a performance duel. Who it is not for: anyone wanting the legal detail of the trial. The film deliberately narrows to one room and two men.
