P. Ramesh's 2014 Tamil film follows Vettri, who takes a job at a detective agency. His work is to watch the people assigned to him and write reports. He falls in love with Madhusree, one of them; then the people he has been following start dying one after another. The film's idea is not knowing what surveillance leads to. Vettri never asked where the information he gathered went, and by the time he finds out he is already inside it. That is the moral axis separating the film from a simple mystery. It was made on a low budget with an unknown cast, without inflated action or song breaks. The tension is built through location and editing. Ashok Selvan and Janani Iyer lead. Who it's for: those who like plain Tamil thrillers and films about surveillance. Who it's not for: viewers looking for high-energy action; the pace is kept low throughout.
