Thiruvilaiyaadal Aarambam

Boopathy Pandian's 2006 Tamil film follows Priya and Thirukumaran, who are in love. A man named Guru lays one plan after another to separate them, and Thirukumaran turns each of them around. The structure rests on that exchange of moves. The narrative does not take its own tension seriously; every trap becomes comic material and Guru keeps falling into the situation he built. Dhanush and Shriya Saran lead, with Prakash Raj on the opposing side. The tone is light, the songs take wide space and the narrative follows the commercial pattern. It runs long and its plotting repeats. Who it's for: those who like Tamil romantic comedy of the two thousands. Who it's not for: viewers expecting a dense narrative; the film repeats the same structure several times.
