Those Happy Days

1992. Vincent Rousseau is running a summer camp for the first time and spends less effort on the job than on managing everyone in it: counsellors who ignore the rules, children who go missing and a staff at war with itself. Éric Toledano and Olivier Nakache directed. The original title is Nos jours heureux; it opened on 28 June 2006 and runs 103 minutes. Jean-Paul Rouve plays Vincent, Marilou Berry plays Nadine and Omar Sy plays Joseph. The directors appear too: Nakache as a doctor and Toledano as a pizza maker. Rémy Chevrin shot it and Frédéric Talgorn wrote the music, for Quad Productions with SND Films distributing. On a 6.9 million dollar budget it grossed 10.9 million. It is one of Toledano and Nakache's early collaborations; the pair went on to make The Intouchables in 2011. Who it is for: viewers who like French ensemble comedy and anyone curious where the Intouchables team came from. Who it is not for: anyone looking for depth. It runs like a series of short sketches placed end to end.
