What Three Tickets to Hollywood Is About
In 1962, in a remote Yugoslav village, three boys in love with the cinema decide to run away straight to Hollywood. In the same days the village policeman is frantically preparing for a visit from the head of state and keeping everyone under close watch. But when news of the missile crisis in Cuba reaches the village, the closely watched townspeople split into two camps and set about settling among themselves what Khrushchev and Kennedy could not. The film sets the children’s dream beside the political fuss of the adults and makes fun of both. In Božidar Nikolić’s hundred and eighteen minute Serbian film, Branislav Lečić, Bogdan Diklić and Ljubiša Samardžić appear. It was completed in 1993.
