Tight Spot

Sherry Conley is a former model currently serving time. The prosecutor brings her an offer: if she testifies about the man at the head of the country's largest criminal organisation, her sentence will be cut. Sherry refuses at first, because a man who testified in the same case was killed a short time ago. They shut her in a hotel room and put her under guard. Outside that room everyone is waiting. The film takes place almost entirely in that hotel room; the source is a stage play and it shows. Ginger Rogers plays Sherry and carries the part entirely through talk; the woman is frightened but her mouth never stops. Edward G. Robinson plays the prosecutor and Brian Keith the policeman guarding her. Phil Karlson directed. Ninety-seven minutes. The tension comes not from action but from how far anyone can trust anyone else.
