What Time Table Is About
A large payroll is taken from the baggage car of a train in Arizona and the investigation is handed to a railroad official and an insurance investigator. The film’s device sits right there: the investigator running the case is the man who planned the robbery he has been asked to solve. What follows turns on one man trying at once to cover his tracks and to look like he is conducting an inquiry, with every new detail closing in on him. Mark Stevens set it up as producer, directed it and took the lead himself, forming his own company for an independent picture that United Artists distributed. Aben Kandel wrote the screenplay from a story by Robert Angus. King Calder, Felicia Farr and Wesley Addy are in the cast, with Jack Klugman and John Marley appearing early in their careers. It is a seventy-nine minute noir.
