Gun Crazy

A man obsessed with guns since childhood meets a woman doing a shooting act at a fairground. She agrees to stay with him on one condition: money. The film shoots one of the robberies from a camera set in the back seat of the car, without cutting, the actors improvising as they drive. The narrative romanticises neither of them; that she is the one steering is shown plainly. Joseph H. Lewis directed. Part of the screenplay was written by a writer who could not be credited because he was blacklisted at the time. Who it's for: those who like noir and stories of criminal couples. Who it's not for: viewers wanting a moral conclusion; the film saves nobody.
