What Time Traveller: The Girl Who Leapt Through Time Is About
Akari is in her last year of school, waiting to sit the university exam and start a different life. Then her mother is in a car accident and everything changes. From her hospital bed her mother asks for something strange: go to 1972 and deliver a message to someone. Akari lands in the past, but it does not go the way she planned, and she is left stranded among strangers in a decade she does not know. It takes place in the world of Yasutaka Tsutsui's much-adapted novel, and the lead is Riisa Naka, who voiced Makoto in the 2006 anime. Where the anime was light, this is heavier and more nostalgic, and seventies Japan functions almost as a second character.
