Tini: The New Life of Violetta

Violetta comes home from a world tour and runs into news she did not expect. Not knowing what to do next, she decides to spend the summer in Italy, moves into a villa, meets new people and rebuilds both her music and her name. Deciding to go on as Tini is the film's central move. The production follows Disney Channel's Violetta series but does not share its universe; the story deliberately runs on a separate line rather than continuing where the show left off. Martina Stoessel plays Violetta again. Juan Pablo Buscarini directed. It is a Spanish and Italian co-production. Shooting began in October 2015 and finished in mid December, using Sicily, Cadiz and Madrid in Spain, and Buenos Aires. It opened in Amsterdam in April 2016, in Spain and Italy in May, in Argentina at the start of June, and took seventeen million dollars. The purpose is plain: turn a series character into a pop career. The film does not hide it, and the number of songs follows accordingly. Who it is for: anyone who watched the Violetta series and follows Martina Stoessel. Who it is not for: anyone who does not know the show. Character history goes unexplained, the plot is thin, and the Italian section is mostly shot like a tourism reel.
