What To See the Sea Is About

Eleven year old Tomáš is given a camera for his birthday and decides to make a film about his own family. Shooting with his friend starts out as fun, but the camera records things nobody wanted recorded: a lie, and the fact that his father leaves twice a week without going to work and then denies it. Frightened as he is, the boy follows it. This is the first film Jiří Mádl both wrote and directed, and it opened in Czech cinemas on 10 April 2014. It uses the found footage form, which Czech cinema has rarely gone near. Mádl dedicated it to Miloš Forman and to his grandmother Zdeňka. Ondřej Vetchý, Lucie Trmiková and Jaroslava Pokorná are in the cast.
