To Sleep Next to Her

A well-liked man works at a multinational company. His job for years has been to motivate and train his colleagues. Then he is given a new assignment: to dismiss twenty-five people from the same floor. He will draw up the list himself and have the conversations himself. While doing it, he also starts looking at his own life. Eugenio Cappuccio's film does not present the corporate world as a grand scheme of wickedness. Nobody is a devil; everyone does the part that falls to them, and that is exactly what makes it more uncomfortable. The man Giorgio Pasotti plays never openly resists, he only slowly becomes a stranger to himself. It is one of the few Italian films to look at working life: quiet, distant and offering no hope.
