What Tokyo Eyes Is About

Someone in Tokyo is shooting at people, and the papers write him up as a lunatic dispensing his own justice. The police are looking for him. The younger sister of a detective stumbles onto his trail and starts following him, and the person she finds has nothing to do with the man in the newspapers. Jean-Pierre Limosin opens the film like a crime picture and then quietly builds it around two young people getting to know each other. Who did it is settled from the start; the question is why he did it and what she is going to do about him. A French director, Limosin does not dress Tokyo up for tourists: arcades, cafés, the subway and apartment corridors are not set decoration but daily life. The city at the end of the nineties is now as interesting as the film itself.
