Tom meets Zizou - Kein Sommermärchen

The documentary follows the path of the German footballer Thomas Broich. Broich entered the Bundesliga full of promise. The breakthrough people expected never came. He ran into trouble on the pitch and off it. He was not like his teammates. While they were interested in cars, he was reading books and listening to music. That earned him the nickname Mozart. The world of football did not take easily to his manner. His career stalled earlier than anyone expected. In 2010 he transferred to Brisbane Roar in Australia. Life there gave him room to breathe. The director Aljoscha Pause followed him for eight years. He recorded some forty meetings and gathered more than a hundred hours of footage. The film was built out of that material. The account shows a decline and the relief that came after it. Thomas Broich tells his own story in the hundred and thirty six minute documentary. It is a German production Aljoscha Pause finished in 2011.
