Too Many Crooks

Fingers runs a gang that cannot get anything right. They try to rob Billy Gordon, a rich man who distrusts banks and lives in fear of the tax office, and he sees them off without difficulty. So they decide to kidnap his daughter and come away with his wife Lucy instead. Far from paying, Gordon lets it be known that he could not be more pleased, at which point Lucy takes command of the useless gang herself. Mario Zampi's 1959 British comedy gathers the familiar comic faces of the period, Terry-Thomas, George Cole, Sidney James and Bernard Bresslaw, around Brenda de Banzie, who turns into the only competent criminal in it. The real target of the joke is not crime but what a husband thinks his wife is worth.
