Tramps

Danny takes an unexpected job: pick up a bag, leave it somewhere, ask nothing. When he fumbles it and hands the bag to the wrong person, he has to get it back with Ellie, who is working the same job. Adam Leon shoots in and around New York, moving constantly; the engine is not the crime but two young people getting to know each other over one day. The genre frame is kept deliberately light and the threat never really grows. Where the film earns its keep is dialogue: the characters do not explain themselves, they give themselves away while talking. The city is a distance to be walked rather than a backdrop. It went out on Netflix and runs short. Who it is for: viewers who like small-scale New York films and light crime comedy. Who it is not for: anyone wanting suspense, since the danger is never taken seriously.
