Trees Grow on the Stones Too

Vikings attack Kuksja’s village. They take him onto their ship because they believe he brings luck. Kuksja proves himself in a battle against the Danes. For that the chief Torir gives him the name Einar and takes him as a son. Back in Norway the men are received as heroes. But a new trouble arises: Kuksja falls in love with Signy. Signy, however, is already promised to Sigurd. The film uses the shape of a saga but leaves Kuksja between two worlds. The hundred and thirty seven minutes are spread over a long journey. Aleksandr Timoshkin and Petronella Barker appear in the film by Knut Andersen and Stanislav Rostotsky, a joint Norwegian and Soviet production, completed in 1985.
